- About this place:
Come to Marimba to experience dining at its most chic. Here you will savour sumptuous cuisine with the gentle pulse of seductive live music to complement and not overpower your dining experience.
Whilst our Afro-Chic décor, music and cuisine has a unique flavour, we offer the flexibility to host your function or group in a way which will surpass your best expectations, and meet most budgets. The CTICC’s CEO, Dirk Elzinga, has described Marimba as the ‘jewel in the crown’ at the CTICC. As a seasoned convention centre manager with roots in Amsterdam and more recently Cape Town, Dirk has visited almost every major convention centre on this planet and has observed that none of them have a privately owned and owner driven sumptuous restaurant of this standard right under the Convention Centre roof. Whilst offering direct physical access from the Convention Centre and it’s secure underground parking facilities, Marimba has its own unique décor, music, cuisine and more. Our award winning Afro-Chic look is suitable for most events but we are flexible in tailoring decoration as well as menus and music – to suit your specific event requirements.

Marimba’s award winning décor celebrates the African Origin and Global Energy of the Marimba.. Invented in Africa thousands of years ago, the traditional wooden African xylophone – the Marimba- is today found on all seven continents in traditional and modern forms Vibraphones, xylophones and more. Marimba shapes and images are reflected in stone, wood and steel furnishings and décor at Marimba Restaurant and Cigar Bar.

Taste Africa

Marimba’s smiling hosts then give the run-down on the Marimba Feast …an array of communal dishes on each table. Africa’s finest offerings of wild game, succulent beef and poultry, fresh Cape seafood, garden-fresh salads and vegetables, followed by decadent desserts.
