About Fox Comet
Straight out of the suburbs of Cape Town come Fox Comet, a melodic funk-rock band with a new-wave urban edge that will rock your socks off. The Fox Comets were born from the creative talents of Rob Coutts and Nick Cato as the two discussed the difficulties in finding fellow likeminded musicians to jam with. The penny dropped and the two began the early stages of formation. Before long Stephan Corneloup joined as the lead guitarist who for three years had played alongside Nick in a local football team oblivious of their common interest in music. Stephan brings not only a wealth of knowledge to the table developed from years with the French rock outfit, Simili Skaï Club but too a French flair and an ability to belt out some awesome rifts. The three began to jam and develop their unique style of rock until eventually lending the talents of drummer and madman Kyle Gray. Kyle’s unique cymbol work and natural ability to rock out made him a perfect candidate for a permanent fixture in the band which he accepted. The group have a wide range of influences ranging from The Cat empire, The Red Hot Chilli peppers and Incubus to more locally grown music like Desmond and the tutu’s and The Rudimentals. This stimulates the diversity of the band and keeps things interesting as oppose to repetitive albums that sound like one long song. In the end the Fox Comets aim to create music in new inspiring ways that touch themselves and those around them. They strive to do it in a manner that you won’t soon forget and whilst doing so, become one of South Africa’s most formidable forces.
