Concerned with the air transport potential and problems of developing countries in general, and comprises a systematic, analytical investigation of facts, aspects and problems related to Botswana’s Air Transport System in particular. In the theoretical part, some specific characteristics and problems of developing countries with special reference to Botswana have been discussed. It was found that since the country is landlocked and geographically, politically and economically located between other developing areas and the industrial regions of southern Africa, certain characteristics and problems, especially those related to transport, differ from those of other developing countries. The findings of this investigation may provide an incentive for a follow-up study to enable those responsible for relevant decisions to adjust and up-date the respective information and data continually.
