Academic development. An investigation regarding the needs of student nurses in the development of study skills

Abstract :

An investigation into the needs of student nurses in the development of study skills. The aim of the study is to determine, by means of a descriptive survey, the needs of student nurses with regard to the development of basic study skills, with specific reference to planning, reading, writing and library skills. It is also attempted to determine whether a need for additional study guidance exists, in order to make recommendations in this connection. The necessity of the development and expansion of existing academic development services is stressed, due to the particular study problems of student nurses as a result of limited study time and the importance of active participation.
